The Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors continue to trade injuries in perfect conjunction. Centers Hassan Whiteside and Jonas Valanciunas went down a quarter apart in Game 3. In Game 5, it was the small forwards' turn.
Heat swingman Luol Deng suffered a left wrist injury in the second quarter Wednesday night, and didn't return to the game. Deng said he got hurt while bracing his fall after tripping over a cameraman, and left the game due to swelling.
X-rays of the wrist came back "inconclusive," according to the team. He'll have an MRI on Thursday.
Deng was slogging through a miserable game before being forced out, shooting 0-of-8 from the field, committing two turnovers, and registering a minus-5 rating in 24 minutes.
Given the inconclusive result, he can't say whether he'll be able to suit up for Game 6. But he insists it won't be pain that keeps him out, and that he'll play as long as he gets medical clearance.
"Right now we're just being smart," Deng said. "I have to know what it is. As long as it's nothing serious I will be out there Friday."
