  • Simmons leads assists in 76ers pre-NBA win

Australian Ben Simmons has helped Philadelphia to their first win of the NBA Summer League.

Australian Ben Simmons failed to impact significantly on the scoreboard but his passing prowess was on display in his second outing for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Simmons finished with an equal game-high six assists in the 76ers' 86-75 NBA Summer League win over Utah on Friday, as well as contributing six points and seven rebounds.

The Australian No.1 draftee made several clever passes, some of which weren't capitalised on by teammates who missed gettable baskets.

The win was the 76ers' first at the tournament following Monday's loss to Boston.

Simmons could have contributed more points-wise, but the 19-year-old missed a handful of jump shots and free throws.

After leaving the game against the Celtics in pain with cramps with four minutes to go, Simmons played out most of the match, barring 52 seconds in the final quarter when he was subbed out.
